2018 was a successful year for Switzerland’s textiles and clothing industry: textile exports amounted to 1.3 billion Swiss francs, an increase of 1.9 percent. Technical textiles were the main driver here.
Swiss textile companies focus on niche markets and develop, manufacture and supply a variety of speciality products. This was once again reflected in the figures for 2018.
The textiles industry has always been subject to strong external influences, and technological, social and political changes are also affecting it today. We are in the throes of fast moving and rapidly changing times. So we at Swiss Textiles have to ask ourselves what our industry might look like in the future. Are conventional business models a thing of the past? We firmly believe that our members will play a major role in the further development of innovative and sustainable textile solutions.
