Switzerland is a dynamic, forward-looking cluster for textile solutions, with national and global impact – that is our vision.

Shaping EN

Swiss Textiles is convinced that the future of the Swiss textile and clothing industry lies where businesses, research, education and politics combine their knowledge and expertise.

At the heart of our work are our more than 260 members – internationally active companies spanning the entire textile value chain. They develop textile solutions for a wide range of applications – from high-tech and medical technology, through sustainable materials, to the circular economy, clothing and home textiles.

Supporting and assisting our members

The challenges facing our members are becoming increasingly complex. Innovation, sustainability, geopolitical developments and new regulatory requirements call for collaboration. No single organisation can tackle these challenges alone. That is why Swiss Textiles brings together the key players.

We connect people, knowledge and expertise. We provide guidance, bring together shared interests and drive progress for the future of the industry. In this way, we strengthen the competitiveness of the Swiss textile cluster.

What we mean by a textile cluster

The Swiss Textile Cluster brings together companies, research, development, education and other partners to form a strong network. Together, they generate innovations, collaborations and textile solutions with national and international impact. The cluster’s strength lies not in individual companies, but in the interaction between its stakeholders.

Textile solutions are developed throughout the entire value chain

In Switzerland today, value creation has long since extended beyond production alone. It arises in research and development, design, material innovation, entrepreneurship, production, trade and the circular economy.

Our members develop solutions to the challenges of tomorrow – from non-toxic membranes and blood filters to circular recycling processes and textile applications for construction, mobility and various industries.

Stronger together

Swiss Textiles is part of a strong national and international network comprising trade associations, research institutions, public authorities and partner organisations. As the sponsor of the STS Initiative and the initiator of Fabric Loop, we are driving forces behind a sustainable Swiss textile industry. We bring people and organisations together, creating new collaborations which, in turn, generate innovation.

Our members benefit from this every day – by pooling the industry’s strengths, our members gain guidance, access to knowledge and partners, as well as new opportunities to drive innovation and strengthen their competitiveness.

Our organisation

The General Assembly consists of the members and is the association’s supreme body. It approves the accounts, grants discharge to the Executive Board, decides on the budget and sets the membership fees. The General Assembly elects the members of the Executive Board, the President, the Treasurer and the auditors.

The Executive Board is the strategic governing body of Swiss Textiles. It defines the association’s direction, adopts the budget and annual targets, and oversees their implementation. In addition, it decides on the admission of new members and represents the industry’s interests in external bodies.

Members elect the members of the Executive Board at the General Assembly for a term of three years.

The staff at the secretariat manage the association’s day-to-day operations. They may convene working groups – comprising members and external experts – to address specific issues.
