Market opportunities in Uzbekistan

What is currently happening in the Uzbek textile industry? And why could this be important for Swiss companies?

Uzbekistan is not yet one of the most important trading partners of the Swiss textile and clothing industry. However, trade in the clothing sector has increased significantly, particularly in the last year.

This is also due to the fact that the Uzbek government has strongly promoted the textile and clothing sector in the last two years. It is particularly interested in strengthening the manufacturing industry.

This is part of a long-term strategy to reposition the country in global trade after a decade-long period of protectionism. At the same time, efforts are being made to minimise dependence on individual countries and to diversify business relationships.

Gulnara Salimova, President and Managing Director of the Uzbek - Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Zamira Akhatova from the Consulate of Usbekistan, and Dr. Christian Schindler, Director General, International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF), will shed light on the development in Uzbekistan and highlight opportunities to benefit from the transition.
