(CONNECT) Klinik Seeschau and Swiss Post have been honored with the Swiss Logistics Award 2026. According to a statement issued by the competition organizer, the Bern-based GS1 Switzerland, they accepted the award during the GS1 Excellence Day, the conference for data-driven excellence along the value chain, which was held at the StageOne Event & Convention Hall in Zurich on June 18. At the 31st presentation of this award, the partners were recognized for their joint project focused on the case-specific and demand-synchronized supply of operating rooms.
In this context, individually assembled case boxes containing the necessary consumables are provided for each surgery. A scan at the operating room entrance digitally records all items. Unused materials are automatically collected and returned to storage. The aim here is to ease the burden on operating room staff by reallocating responsibility for non-surgical logistical tasks. According to the information, this reduces inventory levels at the same time, which allows for the creation of additional operating room capacity without any structural modifications.
The project is also impressive from a sustainability perspective, according to the jury. Its deliveries are said to reduce transport costs and packaging material, while the optimized use of materials conserves resources. Moreover, the Post Health Cockpit enables real-time monitoring of inventory and material flows, thereby laying the foundations for continuous process optimization.
The winners beat off competition from the other finalists: Coop, one of Switzerland’s largest retail and wholesale companies based in Basel, teamed up with railCare AG from Wangen b. Olten in the canton of Solothurn for the City Cargo Zürich project, and Eiger Mechanics GmbH based in Interlaken in the canton of Bern with its “Fuel Saving with the Aerodynamic TELP Element” project. Applications are already open for the Swiss Logistics Award 2027.
“The Swiss Logistics Award offers innovative logistics projects a valuable platform”, comments jury president Claudia Wagner, Executive Vice President Operations of Uster Technologies AG. “It is not only the winning project that gains visibility, but all finalists too. I am convinced that this will help the companies on their future path. The nominated projects also impressively demonstrate how innovative Switzerland is as a business location”. ce/mm
