Kramis Teppich Design is a family business founded in Altbüron in the canton of Lucerne in 1987. The factory specializes in hand-tufted carpets for the luxury market and is exclusively active in Switzerland. However, since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic the company has started to show its handiwork in videos on social media. More than 100 videos have been posted online in three years.
One of these videos has now catapulted Kramis Teppich Design into the spotlight as one of the world’s most well-known textile manufacturers. A compilation of former videos overlaid with music and the sounds of handcrafting was published on Instagram on December 6 and has since reached more than 3.6 million people, according to a press release from Kramis Teppich Design. The factory has gained more than 85,000 new followers from this.
Tim Kramis, the qualified social media specialist at Kramis Teppich Design AG, commented in a press release: “We are now receiving messages from round the world regarding collaborations, inquiries, compliments, and more.” He added that the power of social media is massively underestimated “and offers a huge opportunity for even Switzerland’s smallest textile company to become known worldwide”.
