(CONNECT) A total of 26 established and emerging textile companies, organizations and projects have been nominated for the Fair Fashion Award 2025. The focus of this year’s competition is on circularity and sustainability, with the spectrum of submitted innovations ranging from dissolvable sewing thread to fully circular clothing brands, according to a press release.
At the start of November, an independent expert jury will announce three finalists in each of the Established and Emerging categories. The award ceremony is set to take place on November 25 at Technopark Zurich, with the two winners of the competition organized by Swiss Fair Trade each banking prize money of 20,000 Swiss francs and benefiting from consulting services valued at 5,000 Swiss francs. The prizes are provided by the AMPHORA Foundation.
The five nominees in the Established category include the premium brand ISA Bodywear from Amriswil in the canton of Thurgau, the outdoor apparel company Mammut, which is based in Seon in the canton of Aargau, the St.Gallen-based Säntis Textiles with its fibers, yarns and fabrics, the fashion firm Tally Weijl from Basel and the Zurich-based outdoor equipment retailer Transa Backpacking.
In the Emerging category, the companies nominated for the award include, among others, the second-hand outdoor supplier 2nd Peak from Bern and AeoniQ from Schlieren in the canton of Zurich, which offers fully biodegradable filament yarns. In addition, the Zurich-based association Fabric Loop with its committed focus on the circular economy in the textile industry and Muntagnard, a fashion company from Zernez in the canton of Graubünden that adopts a full focus on the circularity of its products are also up for the award. The nominees further include the two Zurich-based firms Neumühle and WE AR ZRCL, as well as companies such as Climatex from Wädenswil in the canton of Zurich, Mover based in Lausanne, Nikin from Lenzburg in the canton of Aargau, another Zurich-based company in the form of Qwstion, the Bern-based Rework and Step-Zero, which again hails from Zurich.
“With the Fair Fashion Award, our aim is to provide these pioneers with the platform they deserve and in so doing inspire others to contribute to the transition towards a circular textile economy”, comments Philipp Scheidiger, Managing Director of Swiss Fair Trade. “The broad spectrum of nominees demonstrates that emerging Swiss brands, cooperative projects and international companies based in Switzerland all have the power to make an effective contribution to sustainability and circularity”. ce/mm
