Aargau-based sportswear manufacturer Mammut is launching its new, resource-saving Mammut Loopinsulation winter collection. Mammut is working with Austrian rope manufacturer Teufelberger on Loopinsulation. Recycled production scraps generated during industrial rope manufacturing are used to make insulation material, according to a press release. The manufacturing process is mechanical and free of chemicals. The technical challenge in this Loopinsulation process was to obtain insulation material from ropes of varying diameters, strengths, quality and colors. Mammut has prepared and recycled 12 tons of rope scraps for the 2024 fall and winter season. One example from the new collection is the Sender IN Hooded Jacket, which combines Loopinsulation with a recycled wind and water-repellent outer shell. Mammut believes the product moves it closer to a fully circular, eco-friendly production process.
“With Mammut Loopinsulation, we are embracing a circular and resource-conscious approach to material reuse. This is a critical step toward the future of sustainable outdoor clothing,” says Helena Theba, Material Management Lead at Mammut. ce/ww
