Winterthur/Changzhou - Rieter has fitted its factory in Changzhou, China, with a solar power system. In doing so, the manufacturer of textile machines for yarn production is continuing with its strategy to replace fossil fuels with renewable energy at all of its sites by 2030.

Rieter has installed solar panels at its Changzhou production site. According to a post on LinkedIn, it will produce 3,350,851 kilowatt-hours per year. This will save 1,173 metric tons of standard carbon and 2,922 metric tons of CO2 emissions.

Rieter opened its Application & Research Center for Spinning Technology in China's Changzhou National Hi-Tech District (CND), which lies north-west of Shanghai, in 2015. Rieter Changzhou was officially renamed Rieter (China) Textile Instruments Co., Ltd in 2012 and appointed as Rieter's China headquarters. The solar panels cover four main functions: a spinning center, a service center for technical customer service, a textile laboratory, and a textile exhibition hall.

According to information provided by the company, the Rieter Group is the world’s only complete-flow spinning machinery manufacturer capable of handling product based on all four textile technologies. In its climate commitment, the textile machine group set itself the aim of replacing fossil fuels with renewable energies at all sites by 2030. As an interim goal, Rieter plans to stop using energy produced from coal or products containing carbon globally by 2025. mm
