(CONNECT) The Zurich-based company TESTEX AG and Arc’teryx from North Vancouver in the Canadian province of British Columbia have started a joint pilot project for the launch of a circularity label, as has been reported in a statement. The TESTEX CIRCULARITY label is intended to evaluate Arc’teryx product categories against defined criteria for durability, repairability and recyclability. The company thereby wants to demonstrate its targets consisting of a 90 percent reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions (directly caused greenhouse gases) and a 42 per cent reduction in scope 3 emissions (along the supply chain) by 2030. The company’s strategic goal is net zero by 2050.
“Durability has been at the heart of our products since 1989,” said Andrew Yip, Senior Director, Advanced Concepts Materials at Arc’teryx. “Yet we repeatedly encountered a gap in the industry: there was no consistent standard to help customers assess the circularity of the products they purchase. Working with TESTEX was a natural choice, given their technical rigor and aligned framework.” Marlène Maury from Testex is confident that the new label provides “brands with a robust framework to assess circular product performance”, while also giving consumers “transparent, reliable information they can trust”. ce/ww
