Yannik Zamboni from the Zurich-based fashion brand maison blanche has designed the Shirt for Positive Impact in collaboration with Miele. The oversized shirt made from organic long-pile cotton and all related labels were made in Portugal using 100 percent regenerative cotton. It is printed with vegan dyes and stitched using Cradle to Cradle Gold certified yarn.

The main color of the shirt is a broken white; the design over this in dark red or pure white is reminiscent of paint splatters. The words Mode Suisse and Miele as well as the email address of maison blanche and numbers appear in the cotton pile in a random pattern as if they have been branded or alternatively raised up out of the fabric.

This collaboration between the designer and the manufacturer of premium kitchen, laundry, and cleaning appliances stems back to Zamboni winning the Miele x Mode Suisse Award for Positive Impact, which was bestowed at Mode Suisse at the start of September 2024. This award recognizes environmentally and socially aware Swiss fashion designers and includes prize money and a design order for an exclusive piece of clothing.

Zamboni impressed the jury with the clear sustainable intent and vision of his label, maison blanche. It also highlighted Zamboni’s commitment to respectful working conditions, fair wages, and ethical responsibility.

“Our mission is clear: We focus on vegan, plastic-free, and compostable fashion," he comments on the collaboration with Miele in a video. "It is so good to see consumers shopping more consciously. I believe this is the right way forward for the future.”

The shirt is available online in a limited edition of 300 items. Zamboni has earmarked all proceeds to go to the umbrella organization for women’s shelters in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. ce/mm
