Union AG, a traditional manufacturer of embroidered products based in St.Gallen, has agreed a takeover of Isidor Scheffknecht GmbH (Isco), an Austrian company whose history dates back more than a century. As detailed in a press release, Union has acquired all of the business activities of the embroidery company based in Lustenau, a town that lies on the river Rhine forming the border with Switzerland. The local production site is to be retained and continued under the Union name, as the press release explains.

“The acquisition of Isco fits in with our long-term vision of growth and sustainability”, comments Adrian Beeli, CEO of the Union Group, in the press release. He sees the production site in Vorarlberg, Austria, as perfectly complementing the company’s own production facility including finishing plant Asia, via which Union strives to optimally serve its international customers from Europe and to offer greater supply chain security. “We are now well positioned for the future. Embroidery is a niche product in the textile industry, albeit a precious one. We are delighted to continue our successful work in this niche market”, Beeli concludes. ce/ww
