According to a press release, Image Wear, a textile company specializing in work uniforms, is now providing new workwear to around 160 employees in the incident management (EGM [Ereignismanagement]) division of Verkehrsbetriebe Zürich (VBZ). The uniform order for a total of 1,500 employees has been in place since 2018.

CEO Patrice Weber described this as a “first milestone toward diversification” of the company in an interview with the economic forum. By the time he had joined in 2017, Image Wear had grown through outfitting hotel and airline staff. This diversification “saved” the company during the pandemic. The total order volume is 13.66 million Swiss francs according to the media report.

The new workwear represents the face of the transport company in the traditional blue as before. It includes shirts, blouses, trousers, jackets, polo shirts, raincoats, and winter parkas. There are also accessories such as scarves, hats, and foulards.

The clothing for EGM employees has been developed according to their specific requests and further adapted after wear tests. The sizes are taken individually and saved in a measurement file. Employees can order their uniform parts in a specially created online shop using a personal access code.

The clothes are produced at cooperating companies in Eastern Europe. According to the information provided, for this Image Wear considers sustainable production at certified establishments. ce/eb
