Five members of Swiss Textiles have the chance to win this year’s Green Business Award: Dimpora, HeiQ AeoniQ, Lantal, Muntagnard, and Qwstion. According to a press release, this competition organized by Green Business Switzerland shines a spotlight on the positive correlation between entrepreneurial success and sustainable business.

Out of the 36 nominated Swiss companies in total, a preliminary jury awards the five best the Green Business Excellence label. These companies will present a pitch to the main jury, then three will go on to present their solutions in front of potential investors at Impact Gstaad’s Impact Circle Event on February 14, 2025. The winner will be announced after this.

Dimpora is a company based in Zurich that has developed the world’s first circular-solution technology to make clothing waterproof and breathable without toxic substances. This is thanks to the company’s patented CoreLayer technology, which is also suitable for use in construction and medicine.

HeiQ AeoniQ manufactures the eponymous cellulosic yarn, which can replace yarns made out of polyester and other filaments and takes twelve years to biodegrade. The company based in Schlieren in the canton of Zurich uses renewable resources such as agricultural waste to create this product.

Lantal Textiles from Langenthal in the canton of Bern creates carpets for aircraft using a new technology. It digitizes the manufacturing process while reducing water consumption, carbon emissions, and waste. The material is ultralight, thereby decreasing the overall weight of the aircraft.

Muntagnard offers high-quality clothing while relying on waste minimization, degradable materials, durability, and the circular economy. Its value chain is traceable. The startup based in Domat/Ems in the canton of Graubünden also provides a repair service.

Qwstion from Zurich produces Bananatex, the first biodegradable fabric for clothing, shoes, and furniture made from Abacá banana leaves. The plants are grown in the Philippines without pesticides, fertilizer, or watering, contribute to reforestation and biodiversity, and increase the income of local farmers. ce/mm
