(CONNECT) According to a company announcement, Oliver Fuchs has decided to step down from his role as Managing Director of his company Fuchs Design AG. Instead, he will now serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors and focus more on creative processes. “When weighing everything up, it was important to me that the jobs are kept at our Stansstad site”, as Fuchs explains in a company profile published by the newspaper “Luzerner Zeitung”.
With retroactive effect from October 1, 2024, Fuchs has transferred management responsibility of the company to Conny Arpagaus. The new co-owner, 52, has been with the company since 1999.
In 1986, after completing his apprenticeship as a signwriter, Fuchs opened a design studio in the St. Karli district of Lucerne. The textile finishing firm has been based in Stansstad in the canton of Nidwalden since 1997. Fuchs Design AG specializes in printing and embroidery, while also operating a department focused on graphic design.
Arpagaus, who hails from Obbürgen on the outskirts of Stansstad, began working at Fuchs Design AG in 1999. She brought to the table commercial knowledge and experience in the sporting equipment trade, which she gained while working at companies such as Asics and Puma. Arpagaus quickly became Oliver Fuchs’ right-hand woman and since this time the duo have jointly developed the company.
An order from Swiss Olympic, Switzerland’s umbrella organisation for Swiss sport and the Swiss Olympic Commitee, to supply outfits for the Swiss delegation at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens was seen as a moment that opened the door for the company. Fuchs was subsequently asked to design the outfits for the Swiss Olympic team also at the following Games in Beijing in 2008, in addition to the Winter Olympics in Turin in 2006 and Vancouver in 2010. Since then, Fuchs Design AG has been manufacturing for important customers such as ski companies, mountain cableways, large industrial companies and organizers of major sporting events.
“Customers need to realize what a product feels like”, Fuchs explains “and also know that we rely on efficient warehousing at the company headquarters”. Arpagaus adds: “Together with my team, I am hungry to implement ideas that do not come to others, be it in the textile sector or in terms of graphic design”. ce/mm
