Seilerei Herzog AG is expanding its partnership with the Brändi AWB Willisau foundation, which was first agreed more than 30 years ago. The mentally or physically disabled employees of the social enterprise now cut wire ropes with a diameter of 2 millimeters to specific lengths. To this end, the foundation has developed a training scheme with a tailor-made auxiliary device, as Seilerei Herzog explains in a corresponding press release. The customer of the family-owned business based in Lucerne, which is now under third-generation management, uses the pieces of wire rope to install acoustic ceilings.

In addition, employees of the foundation cut cable wires ordered by Seilerei Herzog customers for further processing in shopping trolleys. For years, the company has been collaborating with the Brändi AWB Willisau foundation to produce tethers and halters for livestock farming. In this context, the foundation employees work loops into the ropes manufactured by Seilerei Herzog and make them into halters for use with cattle.

“For this important work, the people with mental or physical disabilities at the Brändi AWB Willisau foundation require sensitivity, skill and persistence”, Seilerei Herzog AG writes. The company benefits from “professional assembly at market prices” as well as from the short transport routes due to the proximity of the two locations. hs
