Haelixa AG from Kemptthal, which specializes in DNA markers for tracing materials, and the Italian textile manufacturer OVS are pleased with their ongoing collaboration. According to a statement, OVS uses Haelixa's DNA markers to label the cotton used – from its cultivation in Italy through the entire value chain to its sale, making the whole process transparent.
The traceability of textiles is becoming increasingly important in the fashion industry, explains the statement. Consumers are demanding more information about the products they purchase. OVS aims to meet this demand by providing transparent disclosure of the supply chain.
“In tracing the journey of the Italian-grown cotton, we are supporting OVS in bringing full transparency to their supply chain,” Haelixa CEO Patrick Strumpf is quoted as saying. “The marking increases brand trust and enables OVS to make sustainable product claims.”
Simone Colombo, Head of Corporate Sustainability, adds: “In 2024, we have continued with Swiss DNA Traceability supplier Haelixa in marking and tracing our OVS Cotone Italiano for the second year.” He continues that the company’s goal is to approach 5 per cent of its cotton requirements from cultivation in Italy within a few years. ww
