Impact Acoustic wins iF Design Award 2024

Impact Acoustic has won the prestigious iF Design Award 2024 for its sound-absorbing cotton tiles Archisonic Cotton. The international prize, which has been awarded annually by iF International Forum Design GmbH since 1954, has various categories to honor outstanding design achievements. This year’s iF Design Award Night will be held on 29 April at the Friedrichstadt-Palast in Berlin.

Archisonic Cotton is made from cotton cellulose, a by-product of the cotton industry that would otherwise be disposed of. The material can absorb up to 60 per cent of sound. According to the jury statement, it is the first and only fully circular acoustic material ever produced. It is completely reusable. At the end of its life cycle, 100 per cent of the sound absorber can be returned to the production process.

Impact Acoustic was founded with the aim of dismantling the barriers to transparency and sustainability in the world of architectural design by bridging the gap between design, functionality and the circular economy. "This launch proves that you don’t have to sacrifice one to satisfy the others,” says the company.

Sven Erni, founder and CEO of Impact Acoustic, is quoted in a statement as saying that the award is "a testament to the tireless commitment of our entire international team to constantly push the boundaries of innovation in sustainable design." ce/mm
