Schoeller presents new PPE collection

Based in the St.GallenBodenseeArea, the textiles manufacturer Schoeller Textil AG has presented a new collection of PPE. According to a press release, the textiles on offer as part of the FLEX SHIELD brand provide both excellent protection and a high level of wearer comfort in tandem with optimal freedom of movement. The textiles used in the FLEX SHIELD collection are made of abrasion-resistant materials that ensure breathability and thermal regulation, in addition to being wind and water repellent. The special feature of the new collection is a unique composition of special ceramic particles that are anchored in a polymer matrix. The ceramic particles are almost as hard as diamonds and are firmly bonded to the textile to form a 3D coating. This technology, which the company refers to as Schoeller-Ceraspace, represents an innovative solution for PPE manufacturing. In terms of abrasion resistance, the new collection performs significantly better than high-quality leather, as the company writes in the press release.

“We used the Schopper abrasion tester to compare a cut of leather (750 g/m²) with our schoeller-ceraspace and achieved fantastic results”, comments Jacqueline Mader, Product Manager Protection at Schoeller Textil AG, in the press release. “Our fabric was able to withstand more than 15,000 revolutions until abrasion damage was evident, while the leather sample was worn out after 5,000 revolutions”, she adds.

Schoeller intends to use the innovative technologies to improve the properties of the material, thereby contributing to extending the service life of the textiles. In this way, the company is striving to conserve resources and play its part in protecting the environment.

FLEX SHIELD is to be showcased at the A+A textiles trade fair, which is set to take place October 24-27 in the German city of Düsseldorf. ce/ww
