HeiQ, the technology firm from Schlieren in the canton of Zurich, has unveiled a new technology to improve the health and cosmetic appearance of the skin by way of specially prepared textiles. According to a press release, HeiQ Skin Care harnesses the power of active probiotics and selected prebiotics in order to improve the health and appearance of the skin. In contrast to conventional products, HeiQ Skin Care uses slow-release prebiotics and probiotics that are seamlessly integrated into a bio-based textile matrix, which enriches the microbiome diversity of the skin and offers long-lasting cosmetic benefits, as the company writes in the press release.

The new synbiotic textile finish is used in “next-to-skin” clothing and home textiles. It aims to create a balanced microbiome for glowing skin, according to the HeiQ press release. The effect is even said to last after repeated use and washing of textiles.

“HeiQ Skin Care represents a leap forward in textile innovation, combining the power of probiotics and prebiotics to enhance skin microbiome and overall skin appearance”, comments Mike Abbott, Head of HeiQ Textiles & Flooring Business Unit, in the press release.

According to the company itself, HeiQ Skin Care is suitable for all textile fibers – both natural and synthetic. Moreover, it can be applied to all textiles that come in direct contact with the skin, such as work clothes, sporting apparel and clothes worn during leisure activities, as well as bedsheets and pillows. HeiQ is showcasing is skincare through textile technology at ISPO Munich 2023, which is being held November 28-30 at the Messe München trade fair center. ce/gba
