Kemptthal/Pfäffikon - Haelixa and the Oerlikon Group have joined forces with the aim of increasing the transparency of supply chains within the textiles industry. To this end, the mechanical engineering experts are using the DNA marker technology from yarn through to end product developed by Haelixa.

Oerlikon Manmade Fibers Solutions, a Shanghai-based subsidiary of the Oerlikon Group based in Pfäffikon in the canton of Schwyz, is striving to ensure transparency across the entire supply chain for textile end products. To this end, the company is using the DNA fiber marker technology developed by Haelixa, further details of which can be found in a press release. The technology developed by the company based in Kemptthal in the canton of Zurich involves specially applied markers that can be tracked throughout the entire production process without undergoing any changes. “This innovative technology employs distinct DNA tailored for each project, establishing a unique identity for the material”, explains Holly Berger, Marketing Director at Haelixa, in the press release. “Once the DNA is integrated into the material, it becomes irremovable, impervious to falsification or alteration”, she adds.

The concept is now being complemented by atmos.io, the digital platform from Oerlikon: This helps to record and evaluate extensive production and process data during the yarn manufacturing process. “The unique DNA carries the ‘roots’ of the yarn digitally recorded in atmos.io into the everyday life of the end consumer”, comments Jochen Adler, CTO at Oerlikon Manmade Fibers Solutions. The textile end products comply with the requirements of the digital product passport required at EU level. This contains the information needed for life cycle assessments and to verify the circularity of the products. ce/ww
