AEW Energie AG (AEW) has installed a photovoltaic system with a peak output of 740 kilowatts on the roofs of three Johann Müller AG buildings in Strengelbach in the canton of Aargau. The system was put into operation in November 2022 and is expected to generate around 650 megawatt hours of solar power per year. The textiles company intends to use around 60 percent of this for its own production processes, with the remainder being fed back into the network of StWZ Energie AG in the neighboring municipality of Zofingen (also in the canton of Aargau). Johann Müller AG specializes in bleaching, dyeing and finishing yarns, fabrics and finished textiles.
The textiles finishing company opted for the photovoltaic contracting model from AEW for its solar power system. In this context, AEW is responsible for the planning, implementation, operation and maintenance of the facility. Johann Müller AG benefits from a discounted rate for the solar power it uses.
The new photovoltaic plant represents the company’s latest display of commitment to environmental protection. As early as 2001, Johann Müller AG converted its steam generation to renewable fuels. In addition, the company helped develop the OEKO-TEX Standard and is “the first textiles finishing company in the world” whose products bear the certification, AEW writes. A drying system developed by Johann Müller AG in 1979, which works without chemicals, is now considered a standard machine “that is used across the world” by thousands of companies. hs
