The Zurich-based design studio QWSTION specializes in the production of sustainable bags and accessories. QWSTION, which has opened stores in Zurich, Vienna, Lausanne and Basel, has been designing everyday bags made from plant fibers since 2008, further details of which can be found in a press release. With the Tote Bag edition, QWSTION has now launched what is “probably the most lightweight collection to date”, the press release explains.

The new everyday bags are available in three sizes and the Pale Yellow and Gravel colorways. The capacity of each bag can be expanded, while there is also a backpack function for heavier loads. “Unmistakably timeless and made almost entirely from plants, the Tote Bag editions combine a feeling of lightness with responsible manufacturing”, QWSTION writes.

The waterproof shell of the Tote Bag models is made from Bananatex, while Biolight cotton fabric certified in accordance with the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is used for the expansion option. Both materials and the cellulose Tencel thread are biodegradable, with the remaining, non-biodegradable components that are used to make the bags able to be easily separated and recycled. No leather is used in the bags. ce/hs
