According to a press release, FREITAG, a company based in Zurich that creates bags from recycled materials, is now offering the reflective crossbody bag F650 DIXON. FREITAG states that this means that store shelves and the online shop will contain “not only used truck tarpaulins and textiles from used PET bottles but also recycled reflectors from truck tarpaulins.”
The main bag consists of 100 percent spun-dyed, recycled PET. A side pocket with a zip is made from old truck tarpaulins, while the adjustable strap started life as a B-stock vehicle safety belt. According to information from the manufacturer, the new model aims to increase the safety of wearers riding bikes during twilight and at night. The design is made to be repair friendly. The small sling bag is available in stores from May 10.
FREITAG was founded by the graphic designers Markus and Daniel Freitag in 1993. It has been based in Zurich’s Oerlikon quarter since 2011. FREITAG’s recycled bags are available on the market across Europe and online. ce/eb
