Christian Fischbacher presents new collection: “100 patterns in 100 days”

Christian Fischbacher, a company from St.Gallen that specializes in colorful textile creations, is presenting a new collection called “100 Patterns in 100 Days”. The 100 patterns in 100 days come in the form of what the company refers to as a capsule collection. According to a press release, the Textiléditeur, as Christian Fischbacher refers to himself, had the collection designed by the Malaysian artist Rebecca Duckett-Wilkinson. The works were created in high-quality cotton, filigree embroidery and the finest carpet weaving, the press release explains further.

Regarding the development history and origin of the new collection, the press release retraces the story of how, after being caught by surprise the Covid-19 pandemic, Rebecca Duckett-Wilkinson spent a few months alone in the Piedmont region of Italy in the spring of 2020. It was at this time that she was inspired to paint a pattern book with 100 patterns in 100 days. Created with paint and paper, the trained weaver and textile print designer has further developed her work with Christian Fischbacher as a capsule collection of curtain and upholstery fabrics, decorative cushions and carpets.

Camilla D. Fischbacher, Creative Director of the company and friend of the Malaysian designer, is also keen to highlight sustainable ways of living and the protection of nature and animals with the new collection. For example, the motif of the “Dawon” curtain and decorative cushion as well as the hand-woven “Harimau” carpet symbolize the endangered tiger. “The Malayan tiger is the symbol of my country of origin and is critically endangered”, explains Rebecca Duckett-Wilkinson in the press release.
