Lavie has committed to achieving the sustainability targets of the Sustainable Textiles Switzerland 2030 initiative, as the fashion brand, which is owned by Balsiger Textil from Langenthal in the canton of Bern in Switzerland, states in a press release. By 2030, Lavie aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, ensure fair wages and decent work throughout the supply chain, in addition to increasing the share of sales generated by recyclable products. Moreover, transparency is to be created with the aim of facilitating sustainable purchase decisions for customers.
In terms of reducing emissions, lavie intends to target the indirect emissions from the supply chain (Scope 3). In partnership with myclimate, last year the company determined the current level of its own emissions (Scope 1 and 2) as well as the indirect emissions from upstream and downstream activities (Scope 3). Based on this, an action plan is to be drawn up together with the climate protection organization by the end of the year.
In relation to its efforts to ensure fair wages and humane working conditions, lavie already covers a range of aspects with existing certifications. The company refers in this context to the Global Organic Textile Standard and the Swiss quality label bioRe, among others. “Nevertheless, we still have lots of potential for improvement”, lavie says in the press release.
The company has also already presented its activities in connection with the circular economy target. For example, it has been a member of the Circular Clothing cooperative since it was founded. At the end of last year, lavie launched its first collection of circular products. To create transparency, the company relies on the blockchain-based software retraced. ce/hs
