Oberkirch/Kemptthal - Two member firms of Swiss Textiles have been nominated for the Green Business Award 2023: Calida, the intimate apparel and lifestyle brand, for its 100% Nature collection, and Haelixa for its DNA marker for the transparent traceability of textiles and raw materials.

Green Business Switzerland, a cooperation between key business and environmental protection stakeholders, has now announced the nominees for this year’s Green Business Award. The list of nominees includes two members firms of Swiss Textiles, namely Calida and Haelixa.

Calida was nominated for its 100% Nature collection. All materials and ingredients used in the collection are produced in a closed cycle with a particular emphasis on preserving resources or grown organically in a controlled environment and are Cradle to Cradle Certified. Millennials are the core target group for this collection. According to Calida’s company presentation for this award, this is a generation that is increasingly prioritizing quality and that clearly identifies more strongly with the issue of sustainability.

Haelixa has developed an eponymous solution for physical DNA-based traceability. The DNA is applied at the product’s point of origin and thereafter can no longer be removed or manipulated. This marker can be used to test for the presence of DNA across the entire value chain, which helps to substantiate aspects such as origin, quality and authenticity. According to Haelixa’s company presentation, its clients include fashion brands and textiles manufacturers, in addition to breeders, mining companies, refineries, jewelry and watch brands, banks and precious stone laboratories.

A total of 20 partner organizations, including the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN), Swiss Recycling, NZZ Connect, the WWF and Swiss Textiles, selected a total of 28 companies in which they have identified a “positive connection between business success and sustainable action”. With this award, Green Business Switzerland is seeking to inspire people to also “take advantage of the great opportunities of corporate sustainability”. mm
