The collaboration between Impact Acoustic and atelier oï has produced the sustainable, acoustic Oloïd lamp, which “combines top acoustic performance with intuitive design”. As detailed in a press release issued by Impact Acoustic, the two companies contributed their expertise in fields such as acoustics, materials science and design innovation to the development process. The “innovative design” of the Oloïd lamp, “paired with its exceptional acoustic properties” serve to redefine “the interactions between light and sound”.

Oloïd leverages the capabilities of ARCHISONIC acoustic felt panels, the high-performance sound absorber made from recycled disposable PET bottles developed by Impact Acoustic. “To create organic shapes, we had to push the limits of the material’s rigidity and flatness”, comments Aurel Aebi, one of the founders of atelier oï, on the Impact Acoustic website. “Our goal in partnering with Impact Acoustic was also to gain an understanding of the machine used in the production process and explore its potential for novel, creative applications”, he adds.

According to Sven Erni, co-founder of Impact Acoustic, this collaboration has been a fascinating experience as it has allowed the company “to observe the metamorphosis of our material”, which he says was made possible by a “special cutting technique at certain angles and the clever folding of the panels”.

In the rankings of the Most Innovative Swiss Companies 2024, which are jointly produced by the Swiss business magazines Bilanz and PME alongside the market research institute Statista, Impact Acoustic secured top spot among all construction companies and first place out of all companies in Central Switzerland, in addition to finishing in 11th place overall among all companies throughout Switzerland. ce/mm
