The MIUtec Midlayer with 1/2 zip developed by the Graubünden-based start-up Muntagnard has been named as the winner of the Innovation Award 2023/24 by the readers of Skimagazin in the category of Sustainability. With 27.4 percent of the votes, the functional long-sleeve pullover with a stand-up collar and half zip ranked ahead of the Transtex Retr’x functional underwear developed by Löffler and the Gigaglide Pro ski wax from Gigaglide, both of which are from Austria.
The midlayer consists of a combination of innovative polyamide and biodegradable elastane. It is breathable, quick-drying, elastic and robust. “We are incredibly proud that our MIUtec Midlayer has won Skimagazin’s Innovation Award in the sustainability category”, Muntagnard states. With this “absolutely incredible result”, the company’s product emerged victorious against industry giants such as Löffler, Rossignol and Scott. According to Muntagnard, the award is “huge recognition for our passion and ambition for sustainable textile innovations”.
This award offers proof that “our brand strategy and product philosophy for timeless and innovative apparel designed for the circular economy are fit for the times we live in”, comments CEO and co-founder Dario Pirovino in an interview with Skimagazin. “In the context of expanding the MIUtec collection with new jacket developments, this award is also a huge motivation that allows us to look ahead with great confidence to the future”. ce/mm
