Mover, the Lausanne-based specialists in integrating natural fibers in high-tech sports apparel, is cooperating with SailGP. Established in 2019 by Oracle founder Larry Ellison and champion sailor Russell Coutts, SailGP is the world’s fastest series of races on water with the ambition of becoming the most purpose-driven and sustainable global sports and entertainment platform, according to comments made by Fiona Morgan, Chief Purpose Manager of SailGP, in a press release. She adds that it is only “by collaborating with innovative, like-minded partners that we’ll be able to achieve this”.

Nicolas Rochat, CEO and founder of Mover, regards the partnership with SailGP as a “fantastic opportunity to prove that natural fibers can excel in one of the most demanding sports on the planet”. The materials produced as part of a two-year development phase with SailGP are “the most technical and intelligent”, in addition to being “genuinely designed to be digested by nature”, Rochat adds.

The collaboration between SailGP and Mover is being supported by the environmental organization A Plastic Planet, whose founder Sian Sutherland praises Mover for “proving that technical performance textiles from natural, truly breathable materials not only feel great but mean we are no longer adding to plastic pollution with every wear and wash”. The three partners explain in a video that their ambition for the joint project is to develop the world’s first range of 100 percent plastic-free sportswear. The Mover capsule collection can be purchased both online at SailGP and in the Mover online shop, with shipping also handled on a plastic-free basis. ce/mm
