Dimpora and the fashion label Middle Distance have agreed a partnership, further details of which can be found in a LinkedIn post from Fashion for Good. Using the technology from the Zurich-based start-up for non-toxic, PFAS-free textile membranes, Middle Distance will manufacture outdoor and sports jackets such as the “Fog Jacket - Natural Haze”. Dimpora has developed textile membranes made from polyurethane that are both waterproof and breathable, which makes them suitable for use in outdoor textiles. According to the LinkedIn post, the fabric is backed with a nylon tricot fabric that increases the stability of the textiles. However, the fundamental basis of the textiles is provided by something known as Irish linen, which is produced using traditional methods. With this initiative, both companies are seeking to reconcile innovative technologies with sustainability, as the LinkedIn post explains further.

Dimpora was spun off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) in 2019. The company was founded by Anna Beltzung (CTO) and Mario Stucki (CEO). ce/ww
