The fashion company Hugo Boss has presented its new range of plastic-free sneakers under the name BOSS THE CHANGE. According to a press release issued by HeiQ, its plastic free AeoniQ yarn was used in these sneakers. HeiQ, the textile technology firm based in Schlieren in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland, developed this high-performance yarn through its subsidiary HeiQ AeoniQ. It is made from climate-positive raw materials, can be recycled and contributes to decarbonization as a replacement for plastic fibers. With an upper made of 85 percent HeiQ AeoniQ, these sustainable The Change sneakers set new standards in terms of comfort, style and durability, as the press release explains further.

Carlo R. Centonze, CEO of HeiQ, explains that “this expansion of HeiQ AeoniQ into new applications showcases its incredible versatility”. He goes on to say that Hugo Boss, as a partner and early investor, “pushes change with these stylish limited-edition sneakers”. Moreover, Centonze adds that this represents “a big step forward and a unique opportunity to change the footwear market away from polyester”.

Back in February 2022, Hugo Boss AG reached an agreement on a long-term cooperation with HeiQ. The manufacturer of premium fashion clothing based in Metzingen in Germany invested a sum of 5 million US dollars in the HeiQ subsidiary HeiQ AeoniQ.

HeiQ, a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH), is headquartered at the IJZ, an innovation and start-up park located in Schlieren. The company is also a member of Start Smart Schlieren. ce/gba
