Mammut has shown quantifiable success from its commitment to environmental and social responsibility in its Responsibility Report 2023. According to a press release from the international manufacturer of mountaineering, climbing, and winter sports items based in Aargau, this is the first time comparable data has been published for the years 2021 to 2023. The data comparison aims to increase transparency and provide more context for the data.
In the reporting year, Mammut had a carbon footprint equivalent to an estimated 43,963 metric tons of CO2. Versus the previous year, this has fallen by 17 percent. This decrease was mainly the result of indirect emissions within the value-added chain (scope 3 emissions). The company’s carbon intensity relative to its business revenue fell by 19 percent versus 2022.
Mammut contributed to the circular economy and product durability in 2023 with more than 13,000 repaired products worldwide. The company has also introduced a new guideline for responsible business conduct, which is supplemented with a well-being handbook for employees.
Heiko Schäfer, CEO of Mammut Sports Group AG, commented in the press release: “This report is a testament to the collective efforts and contributions of our colleagues, partners, and the broader Mammut community.” He added: “This report reflects our journey towards becoming a more responsible and transparent company, and we are excited to share our tangible progress and learnings with the world.” ce/hs
