Lantal, a textile manufacturer based in Langenthal in the canton of Bern, has purchased the company J. A. Raymakers & Co. B.V. with headquarters in Helmond. The royal Dutch textile factories were founded in 1773 and are the leading manufacturer of plush and velvet fabrics for interiors today according to a press release from Lantal. They are used in private living areas, offices, hotels, movie theaters, and theaters.

Lantal acquired the German-Portuguese velvet manufacturing specialist Gierlings-Velpor in 2017. After this, Lantal relocated its center for ground transport business for fitting out buses and trains to its Portuguese factory and integrated Gierlings-Velpor there.

Now, according to Lantal’s CEO Urs Rickenbacher, the company plans to combine the expertise of Gierlings-Velpor, Raymakers, and its subsidiary British Velvets in the sector of decoration, thereby creating “a leading powerhouse within Europe and beyond with a clear focus on creativity and innovation.”

The former owner of Raymakers, Richard Oussouren, believes that bringing together three companies that have specialized in plush fabric manufacturing for years will offer customers “reliability, continuity, and innovative power.” He adds: “I am delighted to have found a strong partner that offers the opportunity to further develop our position in the niche market of velvet for interiors.” ce/mm
