Rotkreuz/Berlin - The two textiles manufacturers Remei and The Slow Label have launched the Circular Tee project. The t-shirt produced under this name is traceable from the organic cotton field to the finished garment. Moreover, it will be resold as a ‘pre-owned’ Circular Tee after the garment is returned.

Remei and the Berlin-based clothing company The Slow Label are seeking to jointly extend the lifetime of garments, further details of which can be found in a press release issued by the textiles manufacturer based in the canton of Zug. With a circular t-shirt by the name of Circular Tee, the partners are now testing a data-driven circular economy for the fashion industry and determining the viability of a circular business model. As The Slow Label GmbH explains in a press release of its own: “As a brand, we believe that we should be held accountable for the garments we produce”.

Remei’s transparent supply chain is used to source the organic cotton for the Circular Tee. Thanks to the my-trace by Remei technology, it is fully traceable from seed to finished garment. A sewn-in QR code can be scanned using a smartphone, which immediately displays this information.

The t-shirt is manufactured and sold by The Slow Label. A button is sewn into its hem, which uses NFC (near field communication) technology to identify the origin and material composition of the garment. You can scan the NFC button with your smartphone to access the take-back program and learn more about the future of the Circular Tee. This also contains the individual Circularity.ID of the respective garment, which is an open data standard developed circular.fashion, likewise based in Berlin.
