The sneaker brand GNL located at Technopark Zurich and Technopark Zurich itself hope to motivate workers at the Technopark to do something for their health and wellbeing. The two partners have launched the #TechnoSteppers initiative for this. Individuals are invited to take part in a 30-minute walk every Thursday at 12:30 p.m. The first took place July 16.

Technopark Zurich writes in a corresponding event description that the invitation is open to anyone who wants some fresh air at midday. No sports gear or sneakers are required as the walk is possible in normal clothing. It will take place in all weathers except for during thunder and storms.

The event description explains: “Numerous studies prove that people who walk regularly strengthen their muscles, decrease the risk of cardiovascular diseases and many other chronic illnesses, and mobilize their immune system.” Additionally, movement is reported to trigger the release of feel-good hormones.

The fresh air is intended to help with relaxation and improve mood. The good supply of oxygen to the brain combats tiredness and supports cognition. Furthermore, walking in a group can strengthen social connections and reduce loneliness and isolation. GNL and Technopark Zurich suggest: “Try it out once, either on your own or with your entire team.” ce/hs
