(CONNECT) Livinguard Technologies AG based in Pfäffikon has developed a new textile finishing technology with the name Livinguard Better Fresh, as has been reported in a press release. Livinguard Better Fresh aims to reduce the accumulation of odors and fiber fragmentation of textiles, thereby addressing some of the greatest disadvantages of synthetic fabrics. This is intended to extend the life of the products and reduce waste and pollution in water, soil and air.
Livinguard Better Fresh is a textile finishing solution that combines biocide-free odor control technology with a mechanism to reduce the shedding of microfibers. This water-based solution can be applied directly after dyeing during the fabric manufacturing process. This means that it has minimal impact on established production facilities and supply chains.
The solution also has the potential to address the progressive issue of microfiber and microplastic pollution. “It is time to act quickly and prevent irreparable damage to the environment,” Sanjeev Swamy, CEO and founder of Livinguard Technologies, is quoted as saying in the press release. “Our innovative technology can make a decisive contribution to solving this global problem.”
Livinguard has assessed the performance and effectiveness of the technology based on established testing standards and its own internal measurement protocols. The Livinguard Better Fresh technology is currently being further tested with research partners and with pilot customers worldwide. According to the company, the technology reduces up to 99 percent of the relevant odorous substances and can reduce fiber loss by 70 percent during the first ten washes. The start of official marketing is scheduled for summer 2025. ce/nta
