Bauer Hockey is using solutions developed by textile technology company HeiQ, which is based in Schlieren in the Swiss canton of Zurich, according to a press release. The sports equipment company, which was founded in 1927 in Canada and is now headquartered in Exeter in the U.S. state of New Hampshire, is offering its Elite Seamless Base Layers enhanced with the HeiQ Smart Temp and HeiQ Fresh textile technologies.

HeiQ Smart Temp is HeiQ’s adaptive dynamic thermal regulation technology. The company explains that the intelligent temperature regulation offered by HeiQ Smart Temp closely mimics the skin’s natural thermal regulating system and enables continuous evaporative cooling through a vaporizing energy action. The cooling effect is activated if the clothing registers a rise in the user’s body temperature, and is automatically deactivated once the ideal body temperature has been reached. HeiQ Fresh is a family of silver-free, highly effective technologies for odor control and management of volatile organic compounds (VOC). The solution forms part of the HeiQ portfolio, along with HeiQ Cool, which offers instant contact cooling and continuous evaporative cooling of textiles.

HeiQ is a spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH). It is based in the IJZ, Schlieren’s center for innovation and young entrepreneurs, and is a member of Start Smart Schlieren. ce/ gba
