Zurich - The sustainable Swiss fashion brand Neumühle is opening its first circular drop-off for white, single-origin cotton textiles. From 10 April 2025, white cottons can be handed in at the Werkstadt Zürich hub for return to the textile cycle along with Neumühle's Mono Shirts.

(CONNECT) Working to turn waste into a raw material, Neumühle has now announced the launch date for its drop-off to promote regional circularity for white cotton. From 10 April, white textiles made of 100 per cent cotton can be handed in at the Werkstadt Zürich hub. They must not contain elastane or other fibers, and they must be plain.

According to the company, 73 per cent of all textiles worldwide end up incinerated or in landfill. Only one per cent is processed into new clothing. “We want to change this and raise awareness – with circular design and an open collection point for everyone,” it writes in a statement.

The white, unmixed cotton textiles that are dropped off will be fed back into the textile cycle along with Neumühle’s white Mono Shirts, transforming the waste into raw materials for new textiles.

Just ahead of Earth Day on 22 April, Neumühle is launching the next generation of Mono Shirts, which have been designed according to circular principles from day one. In addition to Snow White, the Mono Shirts will now also be available in several new colors: Black Coal, Dusty Purple and Olive Grey.

The plastic-free Mono Shirts are entirely made from a single material – through to the hems, collars and sewing thread. Not all “so-called 100% products” can make this claim, says Neumühle. As a result, collars and hems must often be removed for recycling, whereas genuine circular design could save over 100 tons of textile waste every year in Switzerland alone, they say. ce/mm
