(CONNECT) Neumühle has delivered its Mono Shirt to the team at Capet Neo Bistro in Zurich on schedule for the opening date of March 25. This is the new project from the founders of Silex, a restaurant at Wiedikon railway station that has been awarded multiple recognitions, including a green Michelin star for sustainable catering.

The kitchen team at Silex has also been equipped with the Mono Shirt, which Neumühle describes in an announcement as “a wonderful collaboration that combines circular fashion with seasonal, local food.” In future, the two culinary teams will work in shirts that have been adapted for them each specially.

Neumühle from Zurich launched the Mono Shirt in the summer of 2023 as its first T-shirt with a circular design and a recycling system to recover the organic cotton fibers. According to Neumühle, the organic cotton has no elastane or polyester yarn thanks to a “sophisticated cutting technique.” The information provided states that this enables high-quality recycling as the collar and Cradle to Cradle Certified sewing thread can be recycled as well.

Neumühle has closed the circle by enabling worn Mono Shirts to be returned to the company. Säntis Textiles with offices in Bühler in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Zurich, and Singapore collects and processes the shirts into new thread via mechanical recycling without chemicals or water. Clients can receive a 20 percent discount on their next purchase in exchange for the return. ce/mm
