(CONNECT) The two companies Säntis Textiles, with headquarters in Bühler in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and Singapore as well as a branch in Zurich, and Muntagnard from Chur are the most pioneering textile companies in Switzerland in 2025 when it comes to the circular economy. The jury of this year’s Fair Fashion Award have bestowed the prize on Säntis Textiles in the “Established” category and on Muntagnard in the “Emerging category”. This accolade was awarded as part of the Innovation Day, held by the industry association Swiss Textiles at the Technopark Zürich on 25 November.

Member of the jury Tina Tomovic, who teaches at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, highlighted in her speech that Switzerland disposes of almost 100,000 tons of textiles every year, as was reported in a statement by the organizers: “This frightening figure clearly shows that it is not easy for global industry to implement effective measures. It takes knowledge, vision, flexibility and perseverance to stop and transform the developments over the generations towards fast fashion and, more recently, ultra-fast fashion.”

Founded in 2005, the family-run textile company Säntis specializes in the development of fibers, yarns and fabrics for the global market. Its proprietary RCO100 technology enables cotton waste to be converted into new fibers without the use of water or chemicals. According to the jury, “Säntis Textiles works closely with brands and producers worldwide, making it one of Switzerland’s leading players in the field of textile circular economy technology”.

Muntagnard was founded in Chur in 2018 and focuses on biodegradable or recycled fibers, transparent european supply chains and durable products. “The label also works with regional partners on modern Swiss wool collections,” said the jury. “With take-back systems and repair services, Muntagnard pursues a holistic approach to circular fashion and is one of the most innovative young textile companies in Switzerland.”

The Award is sponsored by Swiss Fair Trade and the Amphora foundation is the initiator. ce/mm
