Schwyz - A large part of the Swiss Edition of WE ARE ZRCL is now officially Cradle to Cradle-compliant. In this way, the sustainable fashion company has demonstrated that all stages of a fully circular textile value chain are in place in Switzerland and that the garments are commercially viable.

(CONNECT) The fashion label WE ARE ZRCL has achieved an important milestone on its journey to a genuine circular economy, as detailed in a statement. Accordingly, a large part of its Swiss Edition is now officially Cradle to Cradle-certified. “WE ARE ZRCL is therefore one of the few Swiss brands that combine Swiss Made with one of the world’s most stringent circular economy certifications”, the company writes.

With the Swiss Edition pilot project, the brand for timeless and high-quality clothing has demonstrated that all stages of sustainable and circular textile production are also in place in Switzerland and can be implemented by the private sector as well. “Because if I want to manufacture and sell in Switzerland, I don’t want to have to rely on foundations and subsidies”, as founder and CEO Kilian Wiget said at the presentation of his Swiss Edition T-shirts with Cradle to Cradle certification in September 2025.

To this end, WE ARE ZRCL looked for a partner and had its application for a project under the New Regional Policy approved. Within this framework, the Federal Council, which is the Swiss federal government, is supporting the project aimed at inspiring the wider industry alongside the cantons of Aargau, Thurgau, Schwyz and Zug.

In its role as project partner, the Swiss cotton pioneer Remei is sourcing organic cotton from India and Tanzania for use as yarn in Switzerland, in addition to contributing its traceability technology. Isa Sallmann AG produces the high-quality fabric in Amriswil in the canton of Thurgau, while Johann Müller AG is responsible for dyeing the fabric. The company, which is based in Strengelbach in the canton of Aargau, is one of the first dyeing factories to operate in accordance with Cradle to Cradle principles. The garment is then finished by Schuler Manufaktur in Rothenthurm in the canton of Schwyz.

“For us, Cradle to Cradle isn’t just a marketing label, but rather an expression of our worldview”, as CEO Wiget explains in connection with this newly achieved milestone. “Our aim is to prove that genuine circular fashion is possible in Switzerland – with high regional added value, transparent production processes and zero compromises on quality”. ce/mm
