(CONNECT) Climatex AG has been nominated in the Circular Design category of the Design Preis Schweiz awards, as the company specializing in sustainable textile production from Altendorf has announced in a press release. The national Swiss design competition began in 1991 and recognizes top designs in seven categories overall. This year’s award ceremony will take place in the Porzi-Areal in Langenthal in the canton of Bern on 7 November.

Climatex is in the running with three technology innovations for textile circularity: The dissolvable sewing thread STITCHLOCK enables the industrial disassembly of textiles. The DUALCYCLE technology combines natural and synthetic fibers so they can be separated by type at the end of their life. The circular textile material MONOCYCLE is made entirely of recycled material and remains entirely within the material fiber cycle. To prove the practicality of its “systemic approach to making the entire textile supply chain circular”, Climatex created a prototype demonstrating the three technologies.

“The nomination means a lot to us,” said Patric Rupp, Co-CEO of Climatex, in the release. “It is a recognition of our work and willingness to innovate in recent years.” Franziska Ostermeier, Global Sales Manager of Climatex, points to the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) adopted by the EU at the beginning of September, which obliges companies to make their products recyclable and promote circularity: “The new EPR regulations are a strong signal as they create concrete monetary incentives for more sustainable textile products.” ce/hs
