(CONNECT) TESTEX AG has developed a certification process for the circular economy in the textile industry. MUD Jeans has now become one of the first companies to receive the so-called CIRCULARITY label, according to a statement from TESTEX. Amsterdam-based MUD Lab specializes in sustainable denim fashion and is active in 16 countries.
The CIRCULARITY label is a way for companies in the textile industry to know that their products are durable, repairable, and recyclable. “Our vision is to make this a trusted tool for the textile industry – a tool that shows brands a measurable, transparent path to a truly circular economy,” Karin Lindmark, Market Development Manager at TESTEX, is quoted as saying.
MUD Jeans participated in the pilot project for the new label. In the evaluation process, the company scored highly for the durability and reusability of its products. At the same time, the evaluation identified potential for improvement in repairs and logistics. “Having our activities certified by an independent body provides us with credible evidence rather than just claims,” Dion Vijgeboom, Head of Product & Operations at MUD Jeans, is quoted as saying. The result shows us “that we are on the right track, while also challenging us to organize repairability more effectively.” ce/hs
