Frick/Winterthur - The textile company Switcher is opening its first proprietary store on December 1 at the Shopping Seen mall in Winterthur. The store concept is based around the company of the same name that went bankrupt in 2016. The brand was then relaunched in 2020 and further stores are now in the pipeline.

(CONNECT) The first Switcher shop since the brand was relaunched in 2020 is set to open on December 1 at the Shopping Seen mall in Winterthur. Founded in 1981 by Robin Cornelius in Lausanne, the brand had more than 100 franchise and own stores across the whole of Switzerland before going bankrupt in 2016.

Switcher was relaunched in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic and developed into an e-commerce brand that, as was the case with its predecessor, seeks to champion fair and sustainable fashion. According to a company statement, the next step is now a return to physical retail with a bricks-and-mortar store.

Tonja Hofer-Erismann, an interior designer based in Bern who works under the Tonjalovesdesign brand, has reimagined the historical concept for the design both of this store and future branches. Moreover, sales manager Angelica Sticchi worked to revise the category management and has “clearly aligned the product ranges with the needs of modern consumers”.

As Switcher CEO Marc Joss explains, with its retail outlets the company is striving to create places “where online and offline are brought together. Trying things on in the shop and having them delivered to your home, ordering online and picking them up or returning them in the shop – with us it all works seamlessly”.

The opening of a second shop in Rheinfelden in the canton of Aargau is planned for March 2026, with other stores to follow in due course. ce/mm
