(Connect) Mammut has launched the Eiger Extreme Nordwand 6.0 collection, which has been developed with the input of professional mountain athletes and combines maximum performance with the company’s proud commitment to environmental awareness within the framework of its Resourceful Performance design philosophy, as detailed in a press release issued by the mountain equipment supplier.
The items available in this collection range from functional jackets and mountain pants all the way through to moisture-wicking T-shirts for everyday use and feature an average recycled content of 80 percent in the outer fabrics. The materials used are also 100 percent free of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl compounds).
By using high-performance materials such as GORE-TEX PRO ePE, DRY DOWN, and Pertex Quantum Pro, the collection sets new standards in terms of the sustainability and performance of high-altitude mountain apparel, as the company writes. One technical innovation is the integrated layering system, which is designed to ensure that wearers benefit from an optimized microclimate depending on the weather and altitude. The performance of the system, which is supported by partners such as Polartec, RECCO, and Vibram, was tested in collaboration with athletes in Greenland, Patagonia, Pakistan and the Swiss Alps. In the event that an item of clothing is damaged, several of the products in the 6.0 collection, including the Eiger Nordwand Pro HS Hooded Jacket and the Advanced HS Hooded Jacket, include repair kits to immediately fix the issue.
Mammut, a mountain equipment supplier from Seon in the Swiss canton of Aargau, develops and sells clothing, footwear and hardware for the outdoor market. The company, which employs around 850 staff and operates in approximately 40 countries, is aiming to use 95 percent recycled polyester by the end of 2025 as part of its Resourceful Performance philosophy. ce/ja
