(CONNECT) Climatex AG from Altendorf in the canton of Schwyz, Switzerland, has secured fresh capital in the amount of 3.2 million Swiss francs in a funding round. As the circular textiles technology company writes in a statement, the funding round was led by the Zurich-based investment firm Collateral Good and included the participation of existing investors as well.

Climatex was founded in 2008 by Gessner AG, whose own roots date back to the silk production beginning in Wädenswil in the canton of Zurich in 1841.“This funding isn’t just capital”, the statement explains, “it’s fuel for scaling circular textile concepts, end-of-life solutions, and high-quality textile engineering, turning them into real-world impact today”.

The proprietary technologies developed by Climatex, which are Cradle to Cradle-certified, include Stitchlock sewing thread, which completely dissolves during the recycling process and allows for textiles to be separated into their individual components along the seams. Dualcycle technology facilitates the rapid and pure separation of the company’s proprietary Weavelock blended fabrics by dissolving a type of textile lock. For its Longlife upholstery fabrics, Climatex uses 85 percent materials classified as biological nutrients, whereby the remaining 15 percent comprises synthetic materials. Lifeguard is the first flame-retardant fabric made from biologically safe qualified materials. Climatex cites interior design, clothing and transportation as potential application areas for its innovations.

“This financing round validates both our technology and our vision”, comments former CEO Adrian Obrist in another company statement. Both Obrist and his co-CEO Patric Rupp are stepping back from operational management and moving to the supervisory board. The Danish national Camilla Skjønning Jørgensen has been appointed as the company’s new CEO.

“She brings exactly the right profile to drive the international growth of Climatex”, explains Michael Kleindl, founding partner of Collateral Good. In the opinion of Camilla Skjønning Jørgensen, who is regarded as an experienced textiles expert, Climatex offers “unique opportunities in the circular economy. The circular design approach enables these technologies to create highly functional, durable products that are designed for recycling from the outset. I look forward to implementing these solutions together with our industry partners worldwide”. ce/mm
