At Première Vision 2026 in Paris, Swiss Textiles and Euratex, the umbrella organisation for the European textile industry, once again issued a joint appeal. As they did last year, Europe’s textile associations are calling on the European Commission and the Member States to establish fair rules for all. Online platforms from third countries are flooding the Swiss and European markets with cheap fashion. This has serious consequences for society and the environment.

Swiss Textiles has once again travelled to Première Vision in Paris this year. There, together with Euratex, the umbrella organisation for the European textile industry, it is once again championing fair competition and safe products in Europe, regardless of where consumers buy their products – in-store or via an online platform.

In 2024 alone, 4.5 billion parcels containing cheap fashion from Asia entered the EU – often produced in breach of environmental, social and safety standards. The consequences: overproduction, more waste, risks to consumers and the undermining of trademark rights.

In a joint statement addressed to the EU authorities, Swiss Textiles and Euratex are therefore once again calling for:

  • greater accountability for online platforms
  • effective controls without loopholes, such as consolidated warehouses
  • harmonised parcel fees: Switzerland, too, is providing for fees as part of the partial revision of the Product Safety Act and is advocating for mutual recognition of the systems.
  • as little additional red tape as possible for compliant businesses

Demands already made in 2025

This is not the first time that Swiss Textiles and Euratex have joined forces to advocate for a level playing field and workable solutions. As early as 2025, they gathered in Paris with 20 national members to call on the European Commission and the Member States to take swift action. This includes, for example, amendments to the Customs Code to remove duty-free thresholds and introduce fees for small consignments.
