ARCHISONIC Natura Cotton from Impact Acoustic gains C2C certifications

(CONNECT) The acoustic absorption material ARCHISONIC Natura Cotton from Impact Acoustic in Lucerne has been awarded the C2C Certified Circularity Gold and C2C Certified Material Health Silver certifications, as detailed in a statement. As a result, the product has been evaluated by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute both in terms of its circularity and material health.

In the Product Circularity category, the institute assesses whether products are specifically designed for their next use and returned to designated circular pathways. In contrast, the Material Health category evaluates whether the chemicals and materials used in the product have been selected and assessed with a primary focus on protecting human health and the environment.

According to Impact Acoustic’s statement, ARCHISONIC Natura is made from cellulose and mineral components. The company states that no synthetic binder is required: The cellulose forms the acoustic absorber and holds it together at the same time. The intention here is for the absorber to be returned to the production process at the end of its useful life, before being reprocessed into a new acoustic absorber.

The company sees its Gold certification for Product Circularity as confirmation of its approach focused on closing the material loop. According to information from Impact Acoustic, a used ARCHISONIC Natura absorber should eventually become another new acoustic absorber – and not just another lower-value product. ce/ja
