(CONNECT) Fischbacher 1819 is launching its Ancient Memories textile collection. It represents an archaeology of fabrics that journey through time, as the global purveyor of furnishing fabrics, carpets and rugs explained in a press release. Ancient Memories was conceived by Claudia Kott, Head of Design, and Camilla Douraghy Fischbacher, Creative Director at Fischbacher 1819, in collaboration with the Dutch designer Marcel Wanders and the textile artist Caterina Roppo, who is based in Palma de Mallorca and Milan.

The core of the collection focuses on hemp, combined with jute and wood-based fibers. “The very elements of nature play a leading role in the creation of these fabrics,” said Roppo and Wanders. “Wind, rain, earth and sun leave their marks on the materials, as if narrating an ancient tale.”

Through Ancient Memories, Fischbacher 1819 celebrates the mastery of the past while looking to the future with respect and awareness. The curatorial work “not only honors the beauty and mastery of a time past but also envisions a future grounded in an unwavering commitment to preserving the natural world around us,” explains Camilla Douraghy Fischbacher. According to Kott, the collection celebrates “the finest artisanal craftsmanship with every thread in this diverse range of textiles woven with profound care and dedication”. ce/hs
