St.Gallen/Zurich - Textile designer Christian Fischbacher and the architect and designer Hadi Teherani are launching two hand-tufted rug models on the market. The patterns and colors are inspired by designs from Iran. Both will be showcased at the neue räume 22 international design exhibition in Zurich.

Christian Fischbacher, a textile designer in St.Gallen, and the architect and designer Hadi Teherani based in Hamburg are introducing their new Roya and Afsun rug models.

Their joint textile collection Contemporary Persia comprising curtain and upholstery fabrics was presented for the first time at the Salone 2022 in Milan and has now been expanded to include rugs. The design, creation and culture of rugs play a central role in the aesthetics of Persia. The patterns, motifs and colors on the textile rugs are a homage to Iran, as was explained in a press release.

The two hand-tufted rugs are custom-made from merino wool. This method involves yarn being threaded by hand into a tufting machine, which is then used to feed the yarn through the stretched cloth backing.

The Roya model is inspired by the landscapes and colors of the Iranian mountains. The contrasts are reminiscent of dream sequences and its name is derived from the Persian for beautiful dream. The Afsun design draws on the traditional visual art of calligraphy and adds a personal touch to the Persian letters of H and T.

Both models are available in sizes 120 cm x 180 cm, 170 cm x 255 cm and 200 cm x 300 cm. They will be on display in Hall 550 at the neue räume 22 international design exhibition in Zurich from 15 to 18 August 2022.
